Town Manager Meets with Public for “Coffee Conversation”

Coffee Conversation

CLARKSVILLE, IN (March 8, 2022) – Taxes, summer sprinkling, and new developments. No topic was off the table during Tuesday’s “Coffee Conversation” event at the Clarksville Community Center. The event is hosted each month by the Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department as a way to help local residents connect with Town leaders.

“When residents normally meet Town leaders, it is at a council meeting or a ribbon cutting,” said Clarksville Parks and Recreation Superintendent BJ Nelson Lynton. “Our Coffee Conversations event allows residents to meet Town officials in a relaxed setting to ask questions and learn more about the Town’s operations.”

Previous guest speakers have included Clarksville Fire Chief Brandon Skaggs and Clarksville Police Chief Mark Palmer. This month’s guest was Town Manager Kevin Baity. This was also the first time the event was streamed LIVE on Facebook.

“One of our goals as a Town is to be more transparent and increase dialogue with our residents,” said Clarksville Communications Director Ken Conklin. “Streaming events like these online allow us to broaden the reach of the event, and allow residents who may not be able to attend in person to watch and ask questions online.”

Several residents attend the event in person and online. Some of the questions included topics such as road improvements, new developments in South Clarksville, improvements in North Clarksville (Plum Creek Neighborhood), summer sprinkling discounts, and much more.
