CLARKSVILLE, IN (August 17, 2022) – There have been a lot of changes happening across the Town of Clarksville in recent years with new developments being built just about everywhere you look. Now, two Clarksville officials responsible for leading many of those changes will soon begin new chapters.
Clarksville Planning Director Jacob Arbital and Redevelopment Director Nic Langford recently submitted their resignations to the Town Manager, as they both prepare for the next phase of their young careers. During Tuesday night’s Town Council meeting, the council voted unanimously in approving a resolution thanking both professionals for their service to the Town of Clarksville.
Jacob Arbital joined the Town in 2016 as a GIS Technician and Associate Planner. Since that time he has been promoted twice, first to GIS Administrator in 2017, then Planning Director in 2018. During his nearly seven years in the Planning and Zoning office, Arbital has been a vital part of several projects such as: the adoption of the 3C Master Plan, adoption of the South Clarksville Master Plan, numerous updates to existing planning and zoning codes, and much more.
Nic Langford first joined the Clarksville Redevelopment office in 2018 as a Redevelopment Associate under previous Redevelopment Director Dylan Fisher. When Fisher left the Town, a national search was conducted to find a qualified replacement, but Town leaders decided we already had the right person for the job already employed with the Town. Langford was promoted to Redevelopment Director in 2020 and carried on the momentum he helped create under Fisher’s leadership. During his time with the Town of Clarksville, Langford negotiated several public-private partnerships leading to numerous large scale development including Gateway Crossing, Bolt + Tie, the Bend, Current812, and Nicholas Landing. Langford was also instrumentally involved in the development of Clarksville’s new Main Street and South Clarksville street grid.
During Tuesday night’s meeting, all seven Town Council members expressed their gratitude to Arbital and Langford. Each Council member also shared the message that although these great professionals will be missed, their efforts will have a lasting impact on the Town of Clarksville for years to come.
Langford’s last day with the Town will be August 24th, while Arbital will finish on August 31st. The search has already begun for Langford’s replacement, although the position title has been changed to Economic Development Director. A search for a new Planning Director is expected to begin early next week.
