CFD Adds Three New Firefighters As Part of Fire Territory Expansion

New Firefighters

CLARKSVILLE, IN (May 4, 2023) – The Clarksville Fire Department is a bit stronger today after welcoming three new firefighters.  James Steadman, Lawrence Thomas, and Noah Vaughn were all sworn-in during the Clarksville Town Council meeting Monday night.  The room was packed full of family, friends, and fellow firefighters looking on.

Clarksville Fire Chief Brandon Skaggs says Steadman and Vaughn are both Marine veterans and met during their time in the military.  He says Lawrence comes to Clarksville following a previous career in the banking industry.

“Each time the fire department can hire additional firefighters our fire department becomes more efficient, provides a safer working environment, and improves overall customer service,” said Skaggs.

All three firefighters served as Reserve Firefighters prior to being hired full-time. Once hired, they completed more than 300 hours of basic fire training.  With the addition of these three firefighters as part of the expansion of our fire territory, Clarksville now has 49 full-time firefighters.  That is compared to 34 when Skaggs was appointed as Fire Chief.
