CLARKSVILLE, IN (April 4, 2023) – It was just days ago that the newest edition of the Town magazine hit area mailboxes, now the man featured on the cover is celebrating another honor. Dr. H.R. Gough was recognized by the Clarksville Town Council Tuesday night for his contributions to the Clarksville Police Department and other public safety agencies across Southern Indiana. Councilmembers voted on a resolution to rename a street on the Town’s campus as Dr. H.R. Gough Way.
Surrounded by family and friends, Dr. Gough accepted a street sign bearing his name from Police Chief Mark Palmer and Fire Chief Brandon Skaggs. After a posing for photos, Dr. Gough tried to say a few words but struggled with the emotions of the evening. He did manage to thank the Town Council for the honor and discussed the great friendships he has built with local law enforcement officers. Many of those officers attended the meeting to see Dr. Gough being recognized.
Since the 1980’s, Dr. Gough has owned and operated the Clarksville Animal Hospital on Eastern Boulevard. During that time, he has offered free medical care to police K9s from more than a dozen police departments across Southern Indiana, including Clarksville PD. You can read more about Dr. Gough and his contributions in the latest edition of the Town of Clarksville magazine.
Police Chief Mark Palmer says Dr. Gough is a very special individual, and that the Town and his department will never be able to fully repay him for his services to the community.
