The Clarksville Police Department is expanding its community outreach and education efforts through a partnership with LAW Publications to provide additional safety resources to Clarksville residents.
Community education has long been an important part of CPD’s approach to policing. Through this new program, the department will be able to distribute professionally developed materials covering a variety of topics designed to help residents recognize risks, make informed decisions and keep themselves and their families safe.
LAW Publications has partnered with law enforcement and other public safety agencies for more than 50 years, creating educational magazines, activity books, resource guides, flyers and other outreach materials. The company currently works with more than 3,500 agencies across 44 states and has distributed more than 100 million educational materials nationwide.
The materials can address topics including drug and substance abuse prevention, scams, crime prevention, bullying, online safety, personal safety and other issues affecting families and communities. Materials are customized with the participating agency’s information so they can be used directly by local officers during community events, school programs and other outreach efforts.
One unique aspect of the program is that the educational materials are funded through sponsorships from local businesses rather than the Police Department’s budget. LAW Publications works with businesses interested in supporting local safety education, allowing the materials to be provided to participating public safety agencies at no cost.
As part of Clarksville’s program, LAW Publications representative Keith May will be visiting businesses throughout the community over the next several days to seek sponsorship support.
Once available, the materials will give Clarksville officers another resource they can place directly into the hands of residents during outreach efforts. Whether helping families recognize common scams, educating young people about the dangers of drugs or sharing information about other safety concerns, the goal is to provide practical information before an emergency or dangerous situation occurs.
The Clarksville Police Department would like to thank the local businesses that choose to support the initiative and the community for its continued partnership.
By working together with residents, businesses and community organizations, CPD can continue expanding its efforts to educate, inform and protect the Clarksville community.
