CLARKSVILLE, IN (September 25, 2023) – The long wait has come to an end for residents interested in trying the new Walk-On’s Sports Bistreaux on Lewis and Clark Parkway in Clarksville. The restaurant celebrated its grand opening today with a ribbon cutting and speeches from several special guests.
One of those guests included the founder of Walk-On’s, Brandon Landry. The idea for the restaurant came to Landry as he was serving as a Walk-On for the LSU Tigers basketball team. Landry joked during the ribbon cutting that he only played seven minutes during his time at LSU, but that the experience taught him the importance of teamwork and community. He says that is one of the many reasons that each of the 82 Walk-On’s locations across the south are actively involved in supporting the local community. They kicked the involvement off by raising $5,000 for Kosair Charities during the restaurant’s soft opening last week.
Clarksville’s restaurant is a franchise location owned by Todd Johnson and Wade Kornblith of Trident Hospitality, as well as former NFL Hall-of-Famer Derrick Brooks. Having spent 14 years playing linebacker for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Brooks was busy signing autographs and posing for photos before the ribbon cutting festivities. Walk-On’s has another NFL connection in that former Saints Quarterback Drew Brees is a co-owner of the Walk-On’s brand.
Today’s event was attended by local business leaders, Town of Clarksville officials, and dozens of area residents. Although everyone was anxious to get inside an try the cuisine, there was an extra incentive on the line. The first 100 people to visit the new Clarksville location had a chance to win free Walk-On’s for a year.
The new Walk-On’s is located at 970 E. Lewis and Clark Parkway and open daily from 11:00am to 11:00pm. They remain open until Midnight on Friday and Saturday nights. The menu is Cajun/Louisiana inspired although there are many other options to choose from such as burgers, wraps, salads, and more.
