Town of Clarksville Honors Emergency Responders of the Year

CLARKSVILLE, IN (January 18, 2022) – We depend on them to protect our community every day, and for that we consider all of our emergency responders to be vital to the safety of the Town of Clarksville. However, each year members of the Clarksville Police and Fire Departments select officers and firefighters who exhibit a higher standard of service to the community. Those town employees were recognized at the start of Tuesday night’s regular Town Council meeting.

Officer Chris Bartley was chosen by his peers as this year’s Officer of the Year for 2021. Officer Bartley is a six-year veteran of the department. His current assignment is serving as the School Resource Officer for Clarksville Community Schools. He is also a Primary Instructor and Defense Tactics Instructor. Reserve Officer Jalil Muhammed was chosen by his peers as this year’s Reserve Officer of the Year.

Officer Muhammed was the recipient of the same award in last year as well. Jalil has been with the Clarksville Police Reserve Program for nearly three years, and currently serves as a Parks Department Officer as well as a Reserve Officer.

Members of the Clarksville Fire Department also voted for their Firefighter of the Year. That honor went to Captain James Hendrick. James is a 20-year veteran of the department and has served in many roles during that time. Captain Hendrick is assigned to C-crew and is the supervisor for Engine 72 and Station #2.

Congratulations to this year’s winners, and thank you for your service to our community!
