Clarksville’s ‘Run for the Kids’ Donates Nearly $10,000 to Local Charities

CLARKSVILLE, IN (December 6, 2023) – Some local kids will be enjoying a very merry Christmas thanks to the organizers of Clarksville’s annual ‘Run for the Kids’.  The annual 5K run/walk event is held every October with a goal of raising money in support of southern Indiana kids.  The proceeds are split annually between Clarksville’s ‘Shop with a Cop’ program and the WHAS Crusade for Children.

During Tuesday night’s meeting of the Clarksville Town Council, race organizer Tom Clevidence presented checks to the Clarksville Fraternal Order of Police and Clarksville Fire Union 2594.  Each organizations received $4,875 for a total of $9,750.  Although some of the funds raised for the event are the result of entry fees from participants, the bulk of the funds come from local businesses which sponsor the race.  For the third year in a row, Civil Engineering and Land Surveying firm Jacobi Toombs and Lanz served as the main event sponsor.

Other sponsors included: Estes Excavating, Inc., First Savings Bank, IAFF Local 2594, Heritage Engineering, Merrel Bierman Excavating, Inc., Lochmueller Group, FOP Lodge 144, The Wheatley Group, MAC Construction, Dan Cristiani Excavating, RW Moore Consulting Engineers, Attorney Chris Sturgeon, Jesse Ballew Enterprises, and Highway Press, Inc.

The Clarksville FOP received an additional check for $559 from Clarksville Fire Chief Brandon Skaggs and Firefighter Josh Middleton.  The fire department had hosted a photos session for area residents and town staff families to take pictures with Santa Claus last week.  During the photo session, Firefighter Middletown served as the photographer and accepted donations for ‘Shop with a Cop’.
