Clarksville Awarded nearly $270,000 Grant for Road Improvements

CLARKSVILLE, IN (November 3, 2021) – Some major improvements are coming to Clarksville thanks to a grant from the Indiana Department of Transportation. Town officials were notified that the Town was awarded nearly $270,000 as part of the Fall 2021 Community Crossing Program.

The funding will allow for the repaving of Longfellow Drive, Milton Court, Whittier Drive, Keats Drive, Lowell Court, Idlewood Drive, Elmwood Drive and Driftwood Drive. As a requirement for the grant, the Town will be responsible for providing a 100% match for the state funds. Funding for the match will be paid out of the Local Roads and Streets Fund.

The streets will be milled to remove excess asphalt and re-crown the surface to correct any drainage issues. New asphalt will be installed to match the existing curb lines (where curbs exist) and pavement striping will be installed where necessary. In addition, curb replacement/replacement may be necessary in some locations.

Town officials are anticipating the work to be completed in Spring 2022.
