Welcome to the website of the Town of Clarksville, Indiana, the oldest town in the Northwest Territory and the point from which Meriwether Lewis and William Clark set out together to discover the land to the west. I am humbled to carry the legacy of Clarksville’s first Town Council President, the Revolutionary War hero, George Rogers Clark.
Today, the Town of Clarksville is led by a council-manager form of government comprised of a seven member elected council and a full-time professional manager. The modern Town of Clarksville reveres the past, but it is also busy moving into the future. Community redevelopment includes new, reenergized retail corridors, the re-imagining of the parkway that bisects our town, and new and exciting plans for Clarksville’s stunning riverfront. Town leaders also work with local businesses and non-profits in renovating long neglected properties and improving the quality of life for all our citizens.
If you are a citizen of Clarksville, we hope you will use this website and other town publications to stay up to date on community activities and initiatives, and will use the contact information here for questions and suggestions.
