CLARKSVILLE, IN (January 23, 2024) – For the second time in two years the Providence High School volleyball team was invited to attend a Clarksville Town Council meeting as honored guests.  During Monday night’s meeting, Town Council President Ryan Ramsey issued a special proclamation naming January 22, 2023 as ‘Providence High School Volleyball Day’ in the Town of Clarksville.  The proclamation was in honor of the Pioneers victory in the IHSAA 3A State Volleyball Championship.

The proclamation read as follows:

WHEREAS, the 2023-2024 Providence High School Volleyball Team attends school in Clarksville, Indiana; and

WHEREAS, in 2023 Providence High School Volleyball Team included 16 highly skilled players, 6 student assistants, and 8 outstanding coaches; and

WHEREAS, the student-athletes display the characteristics of hard work, dedication, sportsmanship, talent and exceptional team chemistry; and

WHEREAS, the 2023 Providence High School Volleyball Team completed the season with a 31-5 record with a sectional win over Silver Creek, a regional win over Evansville Memorial, and semi-state win over Tri West ; and

WHEREAS, the 2023 Providence High School Volleyball Team defeated the #1 ranked Belmont Braves in four sets to claim the 2023-2024 IHSAA Class 3A State Volleyball Championship.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that I, Ryan Ramsey, Council President of the Town of Clarksville, along with my fellow Councilmembers, do hereby proclaim January 22, 2024 as “Providence Pioneers Volleyball Day” in honor of the IHSAA 3A State Champion Providence High School Girls Volleyball Team’s outstanding accomplishments.

Each player, manager, and coach received a signed copy of the proclamation.  After posing for a few photos, President Ramsey had an extra surprise for the Pioneers.  He presented a plaque honoring head coach Terri Purichia for winning her fifth state championship with the Providence Pioneers and bringing tremendous pride to the Town of Clarksville.  Congratulations to the Providence Pioneers on their recent success!
