Groundbreaking Held for New Event Center in Clarksville’s Origin Park

CLARKSVILLE, IN (November 14, 2024) – Dennis Schnurbusch II, CEO of River Heritage Conservancy, welcomed representatives of the community and state leaders to hold a historic groundbreaking ceremony for a new Event Center to be located at 1235 West Kenwood, in Clarksville, Indiana. According to Schnurbusch, “Construction of the Event Center will be the cornerstone of the transformation of the 430-acre park.”

The 14,000 square foot Event Center will reflect the splendor of its natural surroundings and will feature gardens that will highlight the Ohio River’s beauty.  “It will be a gathering place for the community, a space for weddings, corporate events, and concerts,” said Schnurbusch.

Clarksville Town Council President Ryan Ramsey addresses the crowd.

Kent Lanum, Chair of the River Heritage Board, stated the event center “Is a vision for Origin Park that has been a long time coming.”  Lanum continued, “It’s a milestone, and something that everyone is going to find that everything that our Board and stakeholders have dreamed about and talked about is actually coming true.”

The Event Center construction costs are expected to be in the range of $17-$18 million dollars, with a completion date of first quarter 2026 and was kick started by over $3 million dollars received by a READI grant. Cory Cochran, Executive Director of Rivers Hills Economic Development District, told those attending that the Event Center is “more than a project-it’s a vision being brought to life.” “It stands as one of the most significant undertakings in the entire state through the READI initiative,” said Cochran.

Clarksville Town Council President Ryan Ramsey said, “The Town of Clarksville is grateful for the partnership with River Heritage Conservancy and that “the development of Origin Park will be something that will be transformational for not just the Town of Clarksville, but for Southern Indiana as a whole and our entire region.”
