CLARKSVILLE, IN (June 9, 2023) – The Blackiston Mill Road bridge is in need of new repairs following the discovery of a new hole in the asphalt. Drone photos from the bridge show about an one foot by two foot hole in the asphalt with the rebar showing. The damage was discovered early Friday afternoon.
Crews are currently directing traffic around the hole, allowing one lane of traffic to pass at a time. The Floyd County Highway Department, which maintains the bridge, will be tasked with making the repairs. Similar holes, which have appeared on the bridge in the past, have been patched with large metal plates. Drivers should avoid the area if possible.
The Blackiston Mill Road bridge is owned by Floyd County and is scheduled for replacement, although it could be several years before that occurs.
