Status: Full-Time
Salary Range: $37,113.00 to $51,017.00 depending on education and experience

Job Scope:

The Town of Clarksville is now accepting applications for a full time Grant Writer/Associate Planner serving our Planning and Redevelopment Departments, 2000 Broadway, Clarksville, IN. This position assists in land use planning functions for the administration of the Planning Department for the town, agencies and the public to ensure development occurs in sustainable and manageable fashion in compliance with the Comprehensive Plan.

Also, the position researches funding sources, works to secure funding, administers grants, and assists the Redevelopment Department with various projects for the Town of Clarksville.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Assist in the administration of grants, provide advice on funding requirements for implementing project funding strategies, ability in understanding state law, local ordinance and department policies and procedures regarding land use regulations and planning, manage planning initiatives and implement planning policies for future development, assist with updates and maintenance of the Comprehensive Plan and land development regulations, work with State, Federal and local representatives on riverfront erosion issues, assist in writing ordinances and regulations relating to development control and assist with zoning inspections, meeting and responding to citizen complaints.

Salary range is from $37,113.00 to $51,017.00 depending on education and experience.

Knowledge and Experience

Graduation from an accredited four-year institution with a degree in planning, urban studies or a closely related field or 5 years progressively responsible experience in planning. Ability to read and interpret detail prints, specifications, property, legal descriptions, plats, maps, site and development plans and aerial photography, knowledge of computer hardware and software programs, which include Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, and Outlook, data base management, ESRI GIS Enterprise with an on-site server, and also Arc GIS Online.

Job Scope:

The Town of Clarksville is now accepting applications for a full time General Laborer with the Clarksville Street Department, 107 Roy Cole Dr. This position assist in a variety of skilled and semi-skilled tasks in the construction, street maintenance, and repair of streets, sidewalks, storm drains and related public works facilities, painting of traffic markings and street signs and right-a-way maintenance, housekeeping, sanitation collection and operate light and moderately heavy power driven equipment.

General laborers are often required to work outside in all types of weather related conditions. Salary range $30,098.00 to 35,090.00 depending on experience plus an excellent benefit package.

The deadline for submitting applications is Monday, April 20, 2015.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Debris removal from streets and other related public works facilities

  • Dig holes, cut trenches, load and transport equipment

  • Prepare surfaces for paving

  • Install street signs, paint traffic markings

  • Operate street sweeper, chipper, commercial mowers and other power driven equipment

  • Ability to lift up to 100 lbs. and follow all safety guide lines


Job Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED

  • Valid Commercial Driver's license, prefer Class A with "N" endorsement, but Class B with Air Brakes is the minimum

  • Pass a pre-employment drug screening and back ground check

  • Available for on-call and weekend work

  • Some basic computer skills
